What I Live By

That Extra Half an Inch by the glamorous Victoria Beckham is a must for every girl to own. This book literally changed my life and the way I look at buying clothes. Her insightful advice helps every shape and size find the perfect pieces, even offering affordable alternatives for those of us who don’t have unlimited expenses for clothing. One of the most fashionable women in the world giving advice on how she rocks everything she wears… it’s a must for every girl even remotely interested in fashion!

Lauren Conrad’s Style Guide is one of the fantastic novels for teens and young women to carry themselves well in a classic and specific pieces to fit their personality. The former Laguna Beach and The Hills starlet has awed us with her dedication to fashion. Being a young women of LA it’s a challenge to stand out from the casual beachy look that most go for.

Both style guides can be purchased at Barns and Noble!

Dressing a Friend for Less

Considering I aspire to be a Stylist sometime in my life, one of my good friends gave me the challenge of finding her a day and night look for less than a hundred dollars for an occasion swiftly coming up. Of course I was excited for the challenge, and the fact that I could have my very first client! So here is the look I came up with:

The dress is from Charolette Russe for $24.99, as are the shoes sold for $32.50 and the cardigan can be found at Forever 21 for$19.80. These pieces together will create the day look.

The same dress can be worn for a night out with friends with the bright orange shoe to add a bit of color. The shoes can be purchased at Charolette Russe for $15 with the purchase for the other pair.

Fashion Emulating Art

Andy Warhol, probably one of the most famous pop artist in history. This picture above is one of his most famous pieces, being created in a range of colors.

Some of the colors in the picture are the light purple, the deep pink and the extremely bright yellow. I wanted to create an entire outfit based on the colors . This is what I came up with (with the help of Polyvore):

TFNC ruffle top

Balmain skinny suede pants

Charolette Russe Peep Toe Booties

Hermes Birkin Tote

-Kismet earings

Kate Spade Makes the Classic Book A Little More Chic

In my 17 years of existence, I have discovered that I love the classic novels. There is something about the story lines, and language that just gets me. Anyway, I saw a video from The Girls With Glasses video, where the mentioned the Kate Spade book clutch. Kate Spade has been a favorite designer of mine for a while now, and knowing this information created a bit of curiosity… so I checked it out for myself. These clutches are the book lovers greatest dream come true, not to mention the cutest accessory out there. Here are some different clutches, they retail for $325.

Even starlets like Natalie Portman have been seen flaunting this new style. Here she is holding a Lolita clutch at her Black Swam premier.

Bags I’ve Fallen in Love With….

Valentino$2995

Marc Jacobs $2,350

Both bags were found at Neiman Marcus, one of my personal favorites for my high end lusting frenzies. The two bags are slightly similar in that they both have a really interesting texture, but each bag has its own unique characteristics. The new designers of Valentino, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, have created a very interesting new collection, with select pieces that are easily eye catching. This textured, floral tote is just the beginning for the various floral collection. The next bag, by Marc Jacobs, has been available to pre-order since December. Fabulous in every ways, this bag is just another reason why I love Marc Jacobs so much!

3 Chic Looks for less than $80 each

There has been times when I desperately needed to create an ensemble  quickly. And sometimes the clothes in my closet just aren’t enough…

Here are three looks for those of you who actually have a budget. Each look costing under $80. And most of the items are interchangeable and can be used in multiple ways.

The first look is for a nice day out, shopping perhaps, where you need to look cute and feminine. And believe me, there are those days. The top is from Buckle, $28. The shoes Forever 21, $16.80. The jeans from Kohl’s, $18. And the necklace Forever 21, $4.80. The grand total is: $67.60!

This second look is a somewhat causal look, that has a little more effort than the last. The top is from Buckle, $25. The shoes Forever 21, $25.80. Skinny jeans Forever 21, $9.50. And the frog ring at Buckle, $12. (On a side note the frog right comes in different animals like lizards, fish and cheetahs!) The total of this outfit is $72.30.

This last look is for maybe something a bit less casual event than the other two. It is a chic look that is almost effortless. The cardigan is from Norstrom Rack for $15. The shirt, Tilly’s (in various colors) $7.99 or 2/$12. The skirt, Forever 21, $8.50. Shoes can be used from either garment before, saving even more cash! This outfit is a total of $31.50!

My 10 Must Haves

With the fashion world constantly changing, it’s difficult to develop a style if you constantly try and keep up with every little change. Also being a high school student, it is nearly impossible to be frivolous with my wardrobe. I have to contemplate, and really consider a piece before I spend my money purchasing it. So here are my 10 must haves. They are classic, and you won’t have to spend a small fortune of these pieces.

1. The LBD. It is a timeless piece that has translated from way back when Audrey Hepburn was lusting over the Tiffany & Company window while she ate her breakfast. Yes, indeed, the little black dress is a must for every women, from 14-40, this is a must!!! Black is sleek and sophisticated, while it adds a little mystery to any girl. And the simpler the better! You can always dress up or dress down the garment, and who knows it may not even look like the same garment. Here is a dress I found at Dillard’s for $126. A little more than what you would usually spend, but it’s totally worth it!

2. Something that Sparkles. Whether it’s a tank top or a t-shirt or even shoes, having a little glitter in your life is never a bad thing. It’s fun and flirty, and all in all something that every girl should fit into their wardrobe. Here is a babydoll tank top from Buckle I found for $28.

3. The Fun Shoe. Have you ever looked at a pair of shoes and just lusted over them? Well you should get them! A good pair of heels can be really handy in a lot of situations. Splurge on that extra money the shoes, I promise, you will won’t feel bad for the investment. Here are some Chinese Laundry booties I found at Nordstrom for $89. They are so lust-worthy!

4. The Hoodie. It’s a casual way to stay warm and look comfortable. Enough said. Hollister $39.50. There are a variety of other colors.

5. A Good Pair of Jeans. What I look for in jeans is that they fit well, I feel good and I look good in them. Guess has some really nice jeans I found, that I really like! I found these on sale at Buckle for $49.97. A good pair of bootcut jeans will never go out of style!

6. The Statement Jewelery. Nothing says Statement like Juicy. One of my personal favorite pieces of jewelery is my Juicy Couture charm bracelet. It is so fun, and you can personalize it with a wide variety of charms! Retailing for $40- $58, it is a must for the teenage fashionista.

7. The Embellished Tank. Wear it casual or dressy, either way, it’s stylish. A fun way to make an outfit cute, very easily. This is one of my picks, at Buckle for $24.

8. The Tote Bag. A great tote bag can last you years. My personal favorite brand for cotton totes is Juicy Couture, and they are moderately prices, nevertheless it’s a good investment. From lugging around all you stuff to having an overnight bag handy, the tote bag can do magical things for you. And I would even get compliments on my Juicy tote. It’s fabulous and, if you play your cards right, it’s stylish. I found this ruffled tote at Zappos for $98.

9. The Simple Cardigan. It goes with everything, even if you go with classic white or a pop of color the cardigan can be placed with a number or cool things. It can make an outfit look classic, stylish, casual or even sophisticated. The cardigan in general is a must have, but i have to admit, I have a number of simple cardigans in my closet, just so I can see what I can pair them with. This particular cardigan can be found at Buckle for $26.

10. The Black T. Finally, last but not least, the black t-shirt! If you are like me- the t-shirt and jeans kind of girl- you love this one! This has to be my favorite of all the pieces featured in this post, mainly because there are so many ways you can wear it. With all of the pieces shown, yes, but there are endless possibilities to the black t. And the best part, the color is slimming and looks great on everyone! I have yet to see someone look terrible in the black t-shirt. I found this one nice and cheap at my local Tilly’s store, or a cool $7.99. I am going to stock up!

Just another day in the life.
